Waymond's Priorities
for Indio
A clear plan for the next four years, building on proven results to create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Indio.
Indio Progressing #1
Affordable Housing and Living
Continue creating affordable housing opportunities for working families, seniors, veterans, and young people. New housing should be thoughtfully located near grocery stores, schools, places of worship, transportation, employment, and essential services so families can live, work, learn, and thrive in their own community.
Indio Progressing #2
Affordable and Reliable Utilities
Strengthen Indio's relationship with the Imperial Irrigation District to improve electrical reliability, protect affordable rates, expand assistance for qualifying households, and complete critical energy infrastructure. Continue exploring clean and renewable energy solutions that can lower costs and meet Indio's future needs.
Indio Progressing #3
Stronger Roads and Infrastructure
Move major capital improvement projects across the finish line, including the Monroe and Jackson Street Interchange projects. Continue investing in streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, drainage, streetlights, and other improvements, focusing on underdeveloped neighborhoods.
Indio Progressing #4
Youth, Families, and Parks
Expand youth recreation, mentoring, educational partnerships, workforce development, and safer parks. Continue investing in parks, sports facilities, neighborhood programs, and opportunities that help Indio's young people grow, succeed, and feel connected to their community.
Indio Progressing #5
Responsible Growth and Environmental Protection
Support responsible development that creates jobs without sacrificing Indio's water, air quality, energy supply, desert environment, or quality of life. Prohibit data centers and high pollution industrial developments that consume excessive resources or place an unfair burden on nearby neighborhoods.
Indio Progressing #6
Addressing Homelessness
Continue connecting people experiencing homelessness with housing, mental health care, substance use treatment, employment assistance, and other essential services. Strengthen collaboration among the city, neighboring communities, Riverside County, law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, faith groups, and service providers to create effective and compassionate solutions.
Indio Progressing #7
Building an Indio That Works for Everyone
Waymond's priorities are centered on making Indio safer, more affordable, better connected, environmentally responsible, and full of opportunity. Every neighborhood deserves reliable infrastructure, quality services, and a meaningful voice in the city's future.
"Every neighborhood in Indio deserves to share in our city's progress."
